Redmond is a city in King County, Washington with a population of around 72,000. It is located only 15 miles east of Seattle and is bordered by Kirkland on its west, Bellevue on its southwest, and Sammamish on its southeast. It has transformed into a technology hub over recent years and is home to some of the biggest names in the tech industry such as Microsoft and Nintendo of America.

The city’s park system consists of over 40 parks, covering a total of 1,358 acres within which there are 39 miles of trails. Residents can go hiking, biking, swimming, paddleboarding, and even horseback riding. It is also known as the Bicycle Capital of the Northwest and has the only velodrome in the entire state.

• Abundant employment: Redmond is home to some of the world’s largest companies, from Microsoft to Amazon Kuiper. Microsoft is the city’s largest employer, with around 40,000 employees. The city does not impose a business and occupation tax on income, and many companies have taken the incentive and set up offices in Redmond. This has provided a steady stream of job opportunities to its residents.

• Great schools: Most of the schools in Redmond fall under the Lake Washington School District. The school district offers choice programs at all levels for alternative schooling needs, embodying its vision “Every student future ready: prepared for college; prepared for the global workplace; prepared for personal success.” Part of the north is served by the Northshore School District, and the far east is served by the Lake Washington School District. DigiPen Institute of Technology is currently the only college in Redmond.
